Development of New France:

The seven year's war

As previously mentioned, Champlain, the founder of New France must have certain qualities that allow him to succeed in founding New France. Even after all his work, however, New France had a very small population, so French set out to populate their new colony.

Meanwhile, the British expanded their territory as well. Any their thirteen colonies are growing fast.

The French and the British are in constant conflict. For one, the 13 Colonies of Britain wants to expand into the Ohio Valley, to the west of the Applaian Mountains. It was a land of fertile soil. The French recognize the value of the Ohio Valley also. The two powerhouses sent troops to the area, both in hopes of claiming Ohio Valley for themselves.

As expected, war broke out. France and Britain were launched into the (arguably) first world war. It is commonly refered to as the Seven Year's War.

In the end, the Thirteen Colonies overcame the Canadiens because of several factors, the most prominent of which being they had more support from the mother country. The climax of the war, the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, which lasted only fifteen minutes, determined this. After Britain officially won the Seven Year's war, Canada became British territory.

For our assignment this unit, we were to develop a tour with an assigned group. The tour mustn't over glorify the British victory nor deminish the French. The script and power point are linked below.
