Finding Quebec:
Champlain's Imagined Portrait
That image on the right is probably the most well-used image of Champlain ever. But it's also a fake. In truth, Champlain never had the chance to have his portrait done, so no one knows what he looks like.
Mr. Chubb, in one class, put a picture onto the overhead projector. It was a portrait of a wisened man with crinkled, kind eyes and a full, white white beard. Mr. Chubb challenged us to guess what sort of person the portrait was of. We threw out suggestions amongst which includes "fatherly", "experienced", and "has humor". Mr. Chubb then reveals that the person displicted in the portrait is both alive and have been great friends with the other socials teacher Mr. Connor for over 40 years. He told us that our guesses of the charater traits of the man in the portrait were accurate and that Mr. Connor can confirm it.
So he poised a question; "If a person's character can be guessed through a face, can a face be imagined through a person't character traits?"
After thorough research, I have concluded Five of Champlain's Most Notable Qualities
-
Ambitious
-
Determined
-
Shrewd
-
Tough
-
Inuitive
From our chosen qualities, we must write up corrosponding paragraphs that details why we have chosen these qualities and how Champlain's face would look, considering these qualities.
